Choosing an arrow rest
Match the rest’s hand, style, and mount to the bow, and check the vane path.
An arrow rest supports the shaft at launch and must leave the vanes a clear path. Match its hand, style, and mounting interface to the bow.
The short answer
Choose a rest by its hand and riser fit and whether you need containment or a target launcher, then follow the maker’s setup instructions.
Draw hand and riser side
The listing’s hand/side field must agree with the bow’s draw hand, since the launcher or containment arm sits on a specific side of the riser.
Containment and launcher rests
Containment rests hold the arrow in place during movement. QAD describes its Hunter model as a total-containment rest; its TRi is designed for target archery. Compare the exact model’s fit and mounting requirements with your bow. (QAD ULTRAREST Hunter; QAD ULTRAREST TRi)
Riser interface and mount
Check the listed mounting interface and hand orientation against the bow manual. Similar rest bodies do not confirm a compatible mount.
Center shot and drop-away timing
Set center shot and drop-away timing according to the bow and rest makers’ instructions before tuning. Mission’s FAQ gives a center-shot method for Mission bows: measure from the riser attachment hole to the center of the arrow shaft. (Mission Archery FAQ)

How do I choose a rest style?
Choose by the bow’s hand orientation, riser interface, and whether you need the arrow contained during movement. Check the exact rest and bow manuals for compatibility.
When should center shot and timing be set?
Follow the rest and bow makers’ setup instructions before tuning. Ask a qualified shop if the rest does not clear the vanes or its timing is uncertain.
