Thread type, clamp fit, and weight rating all have to agree before a camera mount holds steady through a hunt, a climb, or a shot.

The short answer

Choose a mount whose thread and clamp fit the setup and whose rating supports the camera and accessories.

Thread type determines what the mount actually attaches to; a standard thread doesn’t guarantee fit to every stand, bow, or tripod.

Clamp fit needs to protect the mounting surface (a branch, a rail, a stabilizer) without marring it or loosening over time.

Weight rating prevents a sagging or drifting setup. A camera and any add-on lens or light have to stay under that limit together, not separately.

Recheck the mount any time you move positions. A mount that held steady in one spot can shift when reclamped somewhere else.
